gloria_mundi.jpgNico Papatakis is a provocative scenario writer and militant. It supports J. Broom in 1951 by financing its film “a song of love” and J. Cassavettes by helping it to finish “Shadows”. Nico Papatakis carried out 4 feature-length films, of which Abyssals zone in 62 and Gloria Mundi in 75, little diffused because of the scandals that they caused in all the mediums.
“Gloria Mundi” speaks about torture. An actress plays the part of an Arab terrorist that parachutists torture in a film which remains unfinished. For better incarnating its character, she tortures itself. Narrowly frays, the fiction and reality make its life a martyrdom: separated from his son and his lover, a producer humiliates it, of the intellectuals of left make fun of his revolutionary faith… The film denounces torture in all its forms through a parallel with the war of Algeria. Taking into consideration current event, the film takes another dimension.
