Museum f(r)ictions
What type of museums and institutions can be reimagined for a future geography of art? The recurrence of conceptual and fictional museums proposed by artists and mobilized within a “decanonized” rewriting of art history invites us to consider the heuristic value of fiction for offering decolonized narratives of art. We will consider the instituting dimension of these speculative and nomadic museums – museum fictions that invite us to reevaluate the functions of myth and storytelling as scripts for future museum institutions.
