Le projet de d\u00e9part de Francys Al\u00ffs \u00e9tait une procession, calqu\u00e9e sur les processions religieuses traditionnelles, qui transporterait diverses \u00ab ic\u00f4nes \u00bb de l\u2019art, des oeuvres choisies par lui, du centre vers la p\u00e9riph\u00e9rie, des beaux quartiers aux quartiers populaires. Architecte de profession, Francis Al\u00ffs vit \u00e0 Mexico depuis les ann\u00e9es 80. Cette manipulation fait appara\u00eetre une ligne continue qui s\u00e9pare les images en deux parties d\u00e9cal\u00e9es, une seconde apr\u00e8s l\u2019autre. En copiant litt\u00e9ralement une tradition Oc\u00e9anienne, Coup\u00e9\/D\u00e9cal\u00e9 renverse le point de vue et incarne une forme de Culte Cargo \u00e0 l\u2019occidentale. Coup\u00e9\/D\u00e9cal\u00e9 aborde cette m\u00e9canique du mim\u00e9tisme, o\u00f9 ce qui est copi\u00e9 n&#8217;est pas une forme culturelle en soi, mais plut\u00f4t l&#8217;id\u00e9e que l&#8217;on s&#8217;en fait. Ce travail montre comment la repr\u00e9sentation de l\u2019autre aux premiers jours des interactions entre europ\u00e9ens et tribus indig\u00e8nes du Nouveau Monde diff\u00e8re probablement assez peu de la fa\u00e7on dont les m\u00e9dias modernes se servent aujourd\u2019hui de leur puissance pour marginaliser, \u00e0 des fins politiques et \u00e9conomiques, certain groupes sociaux.
